Formula Student is a student engineering competition held annually in the UK. Student teams from around the world design, build, test, and race a small-scale formula style racing car. The cars are judged on a number of criteria as listed below. It is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and uses the same rules as the original Formula SAE with supplementary regulations. Our best placement so far was the summer 2017 when we placed 3th out of 108 teams with a total score of 732.9 at Silverstone UK. Our intention is to attend at least two international competitions in 2021.
The 2014 competition includes 114 teams from 33 countries, with up to 3000 students taking direct part in the event, and approximately 5000 participants altogether on site. The IIT Bombay team have been hosted by Aston University to allow its 13-strong team to compete in Formula Student, which has been organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
